Intro

Whether your proposed scheme is big or small, new build or restoration, we are here to help. From bike sheds to houses and everything in between, we have probably built one.

Our portfolio pages show some of our work, but not all, so if you don't see something similar to what you are looking for, or if you're not sure we are the right fit for you, just give Oli a quick call and make a decision from there.

We will always be honest about what we think can be achieved and within what timeframe, from planning through to completion. If there is project creep (for example in restoration projects where stripping back a building reveals more or less work than anticipated), we will be up front and open about any adjustments needed to the agreed scope of works, any potential financial implications (plus or minus) and liaise fully with you before proceeding.

The company is kept small by design, so that we keep control of standards, and more than 90% of our business comes from word of mouth. We don't spend money on marketing campaigns and slick advertising promotions, preferring to invest in the best tools and equipment for the job.

Our Ethos

Oli believes that the journey is as important as the destination and wants every build to be an enjoyable experience for all involved - but mostly our clients.

He is our USP - no project is taken on that he has not been involved with from the outset. He works with a small but select band of highly skilled craftsmen, most of whom he has worked with for many years. We have a wider bank of craftsmen to call on when the workload demands it, but all our sub-contractors and trades are tried and tested by Oli himself.

Given the choice, Oli would be 'on the tools' every day, but even when this is not possible, he is never out of touch with the team, progress or with our clients.

Our sole purpose is to turn your vision into reality and although we have a wide range of experience and expertise under our belts, we never stop learning. So if Oli can't be onsite with an axe in hand (or a saw, or a power tool, or...you get the idea...), his second favourite activity is taking some course or other (on his own or with some of the team), learning more than anyone thought possible about working with wood, today or in times past.

How?

An onsite meeting is usually the place where we start. Oli will come and meet with you onsite to get a better understanding of what it is you hope to achieve and give feedback on the site itself and any initial ideas to add to your existing thoughts.

If you do not already have approved architect's drawings or planning permission in place, we can help you with these (if they are required), as well as surveys, designs, 3D scans and even the most complicated planning applications.

Our portfolio shows a selection of completed projects, each one unique in their own way. If you're not sure we are the right fit for you, we recommend a quick call to Oli to sound him out.

Planning

We have a lot of experience with local planning and conservation officers in Hampshire, Surrey and the surrounding counties and can give you initial guidance on whether you even need planning permission in the first place; it may be that your project falls within permitted development (PD) for example.

We can give also give you a steer, based on previous experiences, on how to avoid potential issues with a proposed planning application, listed or otherwise, and/or whether it would be appropriate to consider a Pre-Application to test out the likelihood of getting planning before submission of a full application.

We specialise in old and historic listed buildings in North Hampshire and beyond and, as you will see from various restoration projects featured in the Portfolio section, are well versed in submitting Listed Building Applications (LBA) if your proposed build falls within this genre.

As a consequence, we are also quite familiar with the requirements of the most expensive pets in the UK, aka bats, and a host of other wildlife considerations often involved in some of the most complicated proposals, or even some of the simpler ones in conservation areas for example.

3D Imaging

As part of the planning process, we can provide high quality 3D images to show what the proposed building may look like in situ and from a variety of angles. This helps both the local planning authority (LPA) and our clients fully understand and/or visualise what is proposed and how it sits in the existing landscape.

Digital Scans

For complex planning applications, we can commission 3D digital scans that produce incredibly high detail imaging of the existing building allowing us to draw up very clear instructions on the proposed alterations, repairs or adjustments required.
